Supporting Our Students
Our teachers, counselors, administrators, and other staff do their best to develop relationships with our students and provide  them with individualized support. To help ensure students are getting the assistance they need, Canadochly Elementary also uses a systematic approach to identify students' needs and provide interventions and supports to help students experience success.

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
To define Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, or MTSS, we break the concept into it's component parts. The systems of support are designed to address a variety needs using three broad classifications: Academics, Behavior, and Social-Emotional Growth. The design is also multi-tiered in that within each system, there are different levels, or tiers, of support: Tier 1 (For all students), Tier 2 (for 5 - 10% of our students who may require support to address specific needs), and Tier 3 (for 1 - 5% of our students who may require more intensive interventions).

As students demonstrate a need, additional supports are put in place for them. The image below encompasses many of our academic supports and interventions. Taking a systematic approach increases the likelihood that needs are identified and addressed earlier than they would be otherwise. Through periodic classroom and school-wide assessments and anecdotal evidence from the student and those working with them, we strive to provide every student with the support they need to be successful.

Although these supports are constantly being put in place for students in a systematic fashion, you may have questions or concerns regarding your child's academic progress. Please don't hesitate to contact your child's teachers if you have questions related to specific classes, or to contact their counselor for more general concerns or to set up a meeting.

Taking a systematic approach increases the likelihood that needs are identified and addressed earlier than they would be otherwise. Our Behavior Support Team (BST) meets regularly to review data (ex: ARMOR Points/Dents in LiveSchool and Office Discipline Referrals in Skyward) and meets with teachers to discuss concerns. Using that information, we strive to provide every student with the support they need to be successful.

In Pennsylvania, every middle and high school has a Student Assistance Program. The Student Assistance Program (SAP) at Eastern is a team of school and community agency staff who seek to help your child with problems preventing them from doing well in school or causing stress in their life. Our team members' goal is to help you find services and assistance within the school and, if needed, the community.

For more information, take a look at our informational brochure or speak with our school counselor.
